REDSHIRTS LOSE BALL SERIES TO CALIFORNIA NINE Playing wonderful ball from start to finish, the California Varsity baseball team shut out Stanford by a 5-0 score Saturday afternoon, April 22, on California Field, before a crowd of over 10,000 spectators, thereby taking the 1922 series and enabling the Bear to flaunt a victory in the face of the Cardinal, despite a tie on the track. The blank score handed the Cardinals certainly put the final touch to the baseball season. From the beginning it was evident that Zamloch's men were superior. The Bruins made it a nightmare for Draper, pounding out singles, doubles, and even a triple, and starting the first inning by three runs. Morrow lived up to the reputation he made for himself in the two previous games of the series, striking out two, walking but one and allowing but three hits. The outcome of the last game of the series added a final touch to the track meet which made all the Californians feel better.
