Cl ment-Bayard was a French manufacturer of automobiles, aeroplanes and airships founded in 1903 by the entrepreneur Adolphe Cl ment-Bayard (n e Adolphe Cl ment). The name celebrated the Chevalier Pierre Terrail, seigneur de Bayard who saved the town of M zi res in 1521. A statue of the Chevalier stood in front of the M zi res factory, and the image was incorporated into the company logo. From 1903 Cl ment-Bayard automobiles were built in a 'state of the art' factory at M zi res, known as La Mac rienne, which Cl ment had designed in 1894 mainly for building bicycles.
