The C sar Award is the national film award of France, first given out in 1975. The nominations are selected by the members of the Acad mie des arts et techniques du cin ma. The nationally televised award ceremony is held in the Th tre du Ch telet in Paris each February. The name of the award comes from the sculptor C sar Baldaccini (1921-1998). The trophies are actual sculptures of the artist. They are considered to be the French equivalent of the American Academy Awards. The 36th C sar Awards were presented on 25 February 2011.
