The order of the parables is no chance arrangement, but is according to the divine law of unfolding and manifestation, as shown in our text, " Through Him (the Christ) we have access by (or in) one Spirit unto the Father." The revelation of Jesus Christ is usually the beginning of the knowledge of God in the soul. From the apprehension of the crucified and loving Redeemer, the mind is led by the inward working of the Holy Ghost to see something more of its own corruption, and then commences the struggle and the supremacy of the Spirit of God. Lastly, the mind rejoices in the declaration of the Father, which has been made by and in the Son, and then does the soul, moved by the spirit, gladly cry, "Abba Father!" The sinner comes first to know pardoning through Jesus Christ, then purging and purifying through the Holy Spirit, and lastly, the peace through the Father's love. (the Three Jewish Feasts.) This order in the divine life, and progress in the soul's preparation for companionship with the All Holy in Heaven, is a matter of great importance. Allow me, therefore, to show how it underlies and forms the groundwork of the three great Jewish feasts. (passover. Christ.) First at the Passover, " Eedemption through the Lamb," was the prominent idea depicted vividly by the type. "When I see the blood, I will pass over," was the very centre and kernel of the festival, and cause of its name.
