The Bum Drum Conundrum teaches children about the value of consent and that saying "no" when you don't like something is ALWAYS ok.

Written by Melanie Proulx and Ashley Lanni, The Bum Drum Conundrum tackles the topic of consent in a way that is fun and easy for children to understand, allowing parents to discuss this really important topic with young children in a simple, straightforward, way.

Increasingly, the topic of consent is being discussed inside and outside of the classroom. The Bum Drum Conundrum is a stepping stone in helping start these conversations.

About Melanie Proulx

About Melanie Proulx and Ashley Lanni
Melanie Proulx is an English literature graduate student. As one of her research interests include children's literature, she became frustrated with the lack of feminist, inclusive, children's literature available. She and her colleague Ashley thus decided to do something about it and begin writing stories of their own.

Ashley Lanni is a history graduate student. She has been writing creatively most of her life but never attempted to get her work published until now. Being a feminist and a member of the LGTB community, Ashley was also frustrated with the lack of feminist, inclusive, children's literature and decided to collaborate with Melanie.
