Not illustrated. 1905 edition. Excerpt: ...Any inhabitant of New York may take books from the Library. Two books may be held at the same time, but only one may be a work of fiction. Each book may be kept two weeks, except recently published books in great demand, which may be restricted by the Librarian to one week. Books that may be kept two weeks may be renewed for two weeks more on application. Each book kept over time is subject to a fine of two cents a day until its return; if retained two weeks over time it will be sent for at the borrower's expense. Books should be examined for mutllations. etc., at the time of borrowing, as the last borrower must be held responsible. A registered holder of a library card is in all cases held responsible for books borrowed by its means. no matter by whom it may be presented. if a card is lost, notice must at once be given to the Library. A new card may be issued at the expiration of one week on ayment of 10 cents; otherwise. one will not be ssued till two weeks have passed. Immediate notice of change of residence must be given at the Library. Failure to do so renders the Library card subject to forfeiture. Books will be reserved 24 hours for borrowers who buy a ostai-card reserve form at the desk, and leave t is card, properly addressed, at the Library. The Library is 0 en on week-days from 9 A.
