In the following tables the same three class intervals are included for each distribution. The class interval in which the typical ratio value falls, and the class interval on either side contain, therefore, approximately one half, or more, of all of the cases in the respective groups. In other words, three out of thirteen intervals contain 49% or more of all of the ratios of each group. The order of the magnitude of the typical ratios for these geographical divisions is: South 63 West 66 East 70 Middle West 73 In the Southern group, Operating Expenses consume the smallest proportion of Gross Revenues, and in the Middle Western group they consume the largest proportion in these subdivisions. Distributions by Size of Companies The companies included in this study were also divided into three groups, according to the amount of their total Operating Assets: 1. Companies whose total Operating Assets ranged from 5 to 9 millions of dollars inclusive. 2. Companies whose total Operating Assets ranged between 10 to 49 millions of dollars inclusive. 3. Companies whose total Operating Assets ranged over 50 millions of dollars.
