These have done much damage to trees and the former is more common than the other. The %% hatch in June anJ tha active young appear as small yallow spscks which soon attach themselves to the bark by iawrting the beak into the tissue. The scale then forms and increase in size. The eggs are laid under the scale in tha fall. Ramedy--Dormant spray as given before. Where accessary to spray in Summer when the young scale are running, use kerosene emulsion. A A Scale, greatly en'arged. Scales on a twig. San Josd Scale (Aspidiotus perniciosus)--Minute, almost circular scale insects 130 inch wide, shaped like an inverted saucer with a depressed ring around a central nipple. Not reported in the province as yet, but as there is always a danger of its introduction on nursery stock, etc., the observation of small circular scales about the diameter of a pin head should be immediately reported.
