Our customer reviews

Best friends Cordelia and Letty leave their home town for the bright lights of New York; each with a different goal. Letty has always dreamt of becoming a star and believes she has the talent to do so. Cordelia is seeking her father who she believes to be infamous bootlegger, Darius Grey. The two girls separate after a disagreement and both find themselves thrust into completely new worlds from the one they're used to. Letty with a job as a cigarette girl in a Speakeasy and Cordelia with her father, brother and new friend Astrid. To top it all, Cordelia falls in love with the one boy her father will disapprove of. Bright Young Things was a really enjoyable read with brilliant characters. It was easy to like all three girls and really become involved in their individual stories which all intertwined with each other. The book is excellently written with amazing descriptions including the fashion of the Twenties and the scenes in which it all takes place, from small town Ohio to the big city. The plot wasn't quite action packed but there was plenty going on to keep the pages turning. Typically as the first book in series it leaves you wanting more - but in a good way! I'm glad that there will be a second book coming out this year and I'll most definitely be checking out the Luxe series in the mean time.show more
