Kristen Heitzmann Delivers Powerful New Romantic Suspense

Morgan Spencer has had just about all he can take of life. Following the tragic death of his wife, Jill, he retreats to his brother's Rocky Mountain ranch to heal and focus on the care of his infant daughter, Olivia. Two years later, Morgan begins to make plans to return to his home in Santa Barbara to pick up the pieces of his life and career.

Quinn Riley has been avoiding her past for four years. Standing up for the truth has forced her into a life of fear and isolation. After a "chance" first meeting and a Thanksgiving snowstorm, Quinn is drawn into the Spencer family's warm and loving world, and she begins to believe she might find freedom in their friendship.

The man Quinn helped put behind bars has recently been released, however, and she fears her past will endanger the entire Spencer family. As the danger heightens, she determines to leave town for the sake of the people who have come to mean so much to her.

Fixing problems is what Morgan Spencer does best, and he is not willing to let Quinn run away, possibly into the clutches of a man bent on revenge. But Morgan's solution sends him and Quinn on an unexpected path, with repercussions neither could have anticipated.

Corporate turnaround specialist Morgan Spencer, dubbed the "success guru," has a Midas touch in business. But losing his wife sent him to the brink, and his two-year-old daughter, Livie, is all he's living for--until they encounter a woman whose trouble just might draw him out of his own. Four years ago Quinn Reilly did the right thing. Now the man her testimony put in jail is getting out. Though she has put up barriers to protect herself and those around her, she has come to care for the Spencer family, especially the winsome Livie and her mercurial father. Unwilling to put them at risk when the threats begin, she requests something she hopes the super-successful Morgan might be able to deliver. Fixing problems is what Morgan does best, but his counterproposal takes them in a direction neither is equipped to handle. Determined to confront the past, will they survive to build a future? "Heitzmann weaves a many-layered tale... keep[ing] readers entertained and wondering when the next bit of drama will occur." --Publishers Weekly "In this follow-up to The Still of Night, Heitzmann reintroduces the Spencers, which will please her fans, while adding a multilayered tale of suspense to please Dee Henderson readers." -Library Journal

Our customer reviews

This is one of those books whose story was better than the actual writing of the story. I love the premise behind it. It is no sappy romance, and it even has a bit of mystery to it. It is clean and promotes Christian principles, but I have to say it falls short in this area--at least in my opinion. There is nothing inappropriate in the book, but I felt it sometimes pushed the limits. As I read this book, I found myself growing intrigued at points, but about the time I got interested, I found my interest waning. I'm not sure what it was, but I found myself not always being able to connect with the characters. I loved the fact that love and romance were not instantaneous. I was most intrigued by Markham. You have to read the story to find out about him. I just felt it was like a roller coaster ride at times with its highs and lows. If you are looking for a clean, inspirational romance with a bit of a twist, this book may just be the thing for you. I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent more

Four years after her testimony put Markham behind bars, he is free again and looking for Quinn. She has cut all her old ties and started a new life, but any contact with her family continues to place her in danger. Will the new life she has found survive the attack from Markham, or will she be forced to flee again? In this novel, Kristen Heitzmann brings back characters from two previous novels, "A Rush of Wings", and "The Still of Night". This is a gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller that will keep you hooked right up until the last page. 4 stars Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the Litfuse Publicity Group<> book review bloggers program.
