It is a stop for international trains heading to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland, as well as a terminus for trains from Vienna and other Austrian cities. The station is a connection point for southern Slovak electrical system 25 kV/50 Hz and Austrian 15 kV/16,7 Hz. Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and, with a population of about 431,000, also the country's largest city.
