Description

Excerpt from The Boston Medical and Surgical Journal, Vol. 183: Official Organ of the Massachusetts Medical Society and of the New England Surgical Society; August 5, 1920 Bleeding time is tested by making a small incision in the lobe of the ear - about such a. Wound as would be made for a cell count, using the point of a scalpel - not a needle. The blood is removed every thirty seconds by touching the puncture gently with a piece of blot-ting paper or filter paper. Normally, bleeding ceases in from one to three minutes, depending somewhat on the depth of the puncture and the state of congestion of the capillaries. Any thing over eight minutes is distinctly abnormal. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
