Born in Mahalasville, Ind., February 14, 1864. Educated in common schools of Indiana, and at Central Normal College, Danville, Indiana. His business interests have caused him to cover fifteen states and also to travel some in Canada. At eighteen years of age he had charge of his mother's business interests; later, taught school for a period of six years, having charge of all institute work during the last year having taught. Then engaged in mercantile business in Indiana and Illinois for a period of five years. Has been engaged in the lumber business for past fifteen years, and is fully conversant with same.
