If you've never read any of Michael Rosen's poems, except for the ones in this collection, I think you should run off to a bookshop or library and find some right now! You won't regret it. Michael Rosen was born in 1946 and both his parents were teachers who loved to tell stories and jokes and sing songs. He once worked for the BBC creating children's programmes for radio and television, but nowadays he mostly writes books and poems (a lot of them about his own childhood and family) and goes into schools to help children to write poems, and to perform some of his own. He is awfully good at reading his poems, and if you go to his website (www.michaelrosen.co.uk) you'll see for yourself. Turn to the backstory where you can read and interview with Michael and find out what he thinks about nonsense poetry. Also includes poems from Roald Dahl, Edward Lear, Julia Donaldson, Benjamin Zephaniah, Lewis Carroll, Edward Gorey and Spike Milligan.
