This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1904 edition. Excerpt: ..."Notes," etc. He studied it very carefully, as is shown by frequent notices in his diaries (he received Heft 1 of Bd. 5 on June 16, I817), by two favorable references in his "Annalen" for 1816, and more espe cially in the section on "Von Hammer" in the "Notes" to the "Divan" (Werke, Weimar ed. Bd. 7 S. 231 if. and 280 ff). Anz. 1818, Jul. 6, S. 1073-1080). Now of the twenty-five Rubaiyat translated by Von Hammer the seventh (Dole, p. 447) reads: "Ich schaute gestem einem Tiipfer zu, Der schlug auf frischen Lehm more
