Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Robert Victor 'Bobby' Tambling is a retired English footballer, who played most notably for Chelsea and Crystal Palace in the 1960s and 1970s. He is Chelsea's all-time top scorer, netting 202 goals for them. A prolific goalscoring winger and striker, Tambling was signed by Chelsea as a junior in 1957 and made his debut for the club two years later against West Ham United as a 17-year-old, in which he scored the winning goal in a 3-2 victory. With the departure of the club's principal goalscorer, Jimmy Greaves, for AC Milan in 1961, Tambling got his chance to establish himself in the side. He scored 22 league goals in the following season, and struck up a prolific strike partnership with fellow youth product, Barry Bridges. In spite of this, however, the club were still relegated to the Second Division at the end of the 1961-62 season.
