The year I905 would be OH and the number I9o5 hoisted at the same time. Compass-Signals. _ _ 153. (I) A table begmning BAC (see Signal-Books) is given mdicating compass courses or bearings by degrees from zero at north, through east (9o), south (I8o), west (27o) to north; m 3 separate column of the same table, the equivalent of each com pass direction as just described is given in the notation from north and south to east and west. (2) Another table beginning BQC indicates the signals required for compass courses and bearings by quarter points. 2 2 (3) The table of compass signals is used to indicate a col'l1' pass course or hearing referred to in an accompanying signal. 154. Soundings will be reported by signal in feet. The nega tive flag above a numeral-signal on the subject Wlll indicate " No bottom" obtained at the depth signalled. HOW TO USE THE GENERAL SIGNAL-BOOK. 155. (I) All signals made by hoists of alphabet-flags are general-signals..
