Description

Charting the journey of a little lost owl, a heart-warming and reassuring read from one of the most exciting new voices in children's literature.

The award-winning debut title from Chris Haughton, the acclaimed author-illustrator of Oh No, George! and Shh! We Have a Plan, this is the heart-warming story of Little Owl - who must be more careful when he is sleeping... Uh-oh! He has fallen from his nest, and with a bump he lands on the ground. Where is his mummy? With the help of his new friend Squirrel, Little Owl sets off in search of her, and meets a sequence of other animals. Yet while one might have his mummy's big eyes, and another her pointy ears, they are simply not her. Chris Haughton's striking colour illustrations follow Little Owl on his quest. Which of his new friends will lead him back to his mummy?

Review quote

A distinctive and elegant book, best for reading aloud snuggled up in bed. * Daily Mail * This stunning picture book from rising Irish star Chris Haughton is one of the top picks of the year. * Sunday Business Post * Has a distinctive look and a charm all its own. Small children can enjoying being one step ahead of squirrel's clues and spotting small creatures in silhouette against the flat, saturated colour and stylised trees. -- Nicolette Jones * The Sunday Times * It's endearing, and has beautiful pictures and easy-to-follow themes. * Little Buttons * A captivating debut from one of Booktrust's Best New Illustrators ... is exceptional for its endearing and expressive characterisation, distinctive stylised figures, and unusual palette of ochre, orange, purple, turquoise and indigo, like 1970s' curtains. It makes you smile. -- Nicolette Jones * The Sunday Times *

Our customer reviews

This is a short tale of Little Owl who falls from his nest to the forrest bellow. Squirrel, helpful but not so informed, tries to help Little owl find his Mummy. Little Owl gets presented to an array of other animals before Frog leads him to his Mummy. It's easy to see why this is an "Award winning picture book". The illustrations have a retro feel and the characters are all incredibly expressive. Short and sweet, the story begins and ends with potential disaster, cute characters and a sense of humour children and parents will both love. A very cool book. My 2 year old and I always read this and have a giggle!show more
