Bigelow Rising : A Story of Real People, Caught in Today's World, Proving What the Human Spirit Can Do.
Bigelow Rising, told through truly believable characters, celebrates what can be made possible when the exquisite beauty of the human spirit triumphs over adversity, ultimately yielding a victory for the common good. Set on an idyllic New England campus, the challenges of survival for a small institution of higher education play out under the long-time leadership of President Emory Sergeant. Conflict escalates due to the intransigency of founder Henry Orvis, the powerful but beneficent faculty union, and the unexpected mid-life love affair between two key administration members. Concurrent with these divergent forces, Dwayne Lewis, recently retired from a successful career in sales and marketing, yearns for greater meaning in his life. Through his friend, President Sergeant, Dwayne begins a second career - teaching. Little does he know his real destiny at Bigelow College. Adding to the excitement of travel to China in search of more students, Bigelow Rising depicts age and established practices versus the powerful need to adapt in an ever-changing world. Culminating in a satisfying but unpredictable outcome, this fiction weaves a mesmerizing tale that celebrates what the human spirit can do.
