Big Jim and the Tamarack Queen is a fictional story based on the fact that a dance hall once existed on an island in Lake Tamarack and the steam boat, "The Valley Queen," that carried passengers to and fro sometime around the early 1900s. Surely there must have been both curiosity by some and cursing by those opposed for this was a typical small, rural village.
