Established in August 2003 it covers an area of 3,200 ha in the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park and is situated between the Mahabharat mountain range to the north and the Siwalik range to the south at an altitude of 286 metres (938 ft). This Ramsar site forms an extensive oxbow lake system, typical of the tropical Inner Terai area. Ramsar (in Persian: ) is a town in the Mazandaran province of Iran, on the coast of the Caspian Sea. It was also known as Sakhtsar in the past. Natives of Ramsar speak the Gilaki language which is a member of Iranian languages.show more
