Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Balkans Campaign of World War I was fought between Central Powers Bulgaria, Austria-Hungary and Germany on one side and the Allies Serbia, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, Montenegro (and later Romania and Greece, who sided with the Allied Powers) on the other side. The prime cause of World War I being the hostility between Serbia and Austria-Hungary, it isn't surprising that some of the earliest fighting took place between Serbia and its powerful neighbour to the north: Austria-Hungary. Serbia held out against Austria-Hungary for more than a year before it was conquered in late 1915.
