for SATB and piano A baby so small, a message so great is an expressive Christmas song setting a text by the composer. Contrasting gentle melodies and sparse piano writing with richly dramatic chords, it creates a real sense of anticipation for the arrival of Jesus, and will be a popular choice for Advent and Christmas.show more

Review quote

This month's final recommendation is A baby so small, a message so great: some gold-plated cheese from Alan Bullard for OUP. . . this is an undulating, rich work of crossover from the top drawer. It is short, and you'll need divisi sops and basses and the nerve not to speed up at any point. Maybe it takes a composer who knows how to write choral music which keeps your attention for an hour to get the miniatures right too. * Thomas Lydon, Music Teacher, November 2012 *show more
