Its situation is most picturesque, overlooking as it does the lake and the whole panorama of Switzerland-East. Its environs will bear comparison for scenery with the best parts of Switzerland. The town of Lindau is very old, and contains many interesting antiquities. The schools for music and foreign languages are excellent. It is connected with the main land by the railway bridge. There are sulphurous waters in Schachenbad, half-hour from Lindau. The island of Lindau has been much embellished, of late. The quays and old walls of the town have been converted into promenades and planted with trees. Parks and gardens at the Landthor, Schiitzengarten, Reichsplatz, and Seehafen are all admirably kept. Steamboats ply frequently to the different places of interest on the lake. Concerts, balls, theatre, etc., during season. Good fishing in the lake and the different brooks. Reading room at the Harmony Assembly Rooms. Illuminations on the lake. Post and Telegraph office at the station. English church. Chemist: The Angel. Dentist: Dr. Kirsch. Carriages: Mr. Seutter. Doctors: Drs. Langheinrich (Ladies' Doctor), Volk, Mayer, Ott, Kimnerte and Bever. Hotels: The Hotel ie Baviere, an old and well-established first-class house on the harbour, with garden, very comfortable. C. Ludwig, Proprietor.
