These include reminiscences of H. M. the late Queen Victoria, the Empress Frederick, Lord Beaconsfield, Mr. Gladstone, Lord Dufferin, Cardinal Rampolla," Ouida," J. A. Symonds, and Mr. Swinburne. The Memoir of Sir George Grey, G.C.B., 1799--1882, by Dr. Mandell Creighton, the late Bishop of London, is just out (Longmans). This is a reprint of a volume privately printed in 1884. Sir George Gray held offices in the Ministries of Lord Melbourne, Lord John Russell, and Lord Palmerston. He was Home Secretary during the Chartist troubles of 1848. Dr. Selwyn, the Headmaster of Uppingham, has written a sequel to his work " The Christian Prophets," entitled "St. Luke the Prophet." In it Dr. Selwyn defends the genuineness of the Second Epistle of St. Peter, develops his theory that St. Luke wrote that Epistle for St. Peter at Rome, ...show more
