Not illustrated. 1899 edition. Excerpt: ...shafts are plated on the inside edge as in the ordinary bent-shaft sulky, and bolted to the outsides of the body. The front spring hpngers are bolted underneath the shafts, the flat following the bend of the shaft forward to beyond the cross-bar. The seat is made with solid sides and back, all being dressed to show slightly convex surfaces. The depth from floor to top of seat is 13m., and the distance from front of seat to shaft cross bar is 2ft.-fin. The shafts have about ioin. drop, measuring to outsides. A few of the measurements are as follows: --Scat, width of bottom........ 3ft., depth of bottom........ lft.-tin. Width under body 2ft. lOin. Length under bottom of body.... 2ft. 4in. Plate 104 represents a full size four-wheel dog-cart of good design. This class of vehicle is usually made with the body of walnut, finished to show the natural wood, and with the underpays painted a light colour or in natural wood. The trimmings are in brown leather or hogskin, finished plain. The upright battens outside the body panels are made of iin. x in. T iron, reduced to inch on the rib, and rivetted on with rivets put in from inside, and filed off flush on the outside after they are rivetted up. The engraving is from a dog-cart built by Mr. G. H.
