Description

"A" appears to most people as a loving and excitable, creative and entertaining and intelligent 10-year old boy. He is a solid "A" student in mainstream 4th grade in a US Elementary School system. He is one of 25 students in his classroom. Like most of his peers, he acts like a 10 year old. According to the local Board of Education (BOE) "A" is designated as OHI, Other Health Impaired, an identification given that allows the BOE's Special Education Program to provide him with Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and School Counseling as needed. "A" is currently clinically diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. The purpose of this study is to examine defining characteristics and symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome according to published research and to compare/contrast research with the past 7 years recorded history of "A's" growth and development.
