Review Text

An "Epic" (or so it's presented) in that it demands fortitude of all concerned dealing with the by now overfamiliar Gold Rush as it was joined, in the first half here, by younger and older hopefuls from Indiana, New York and even New Orleans which contributes the racy gambler Darcy. But mostly it's about Goldie Baxter with her "riotous curls" who seems as good as. . .and her brother' Gray whom she salvages all along the way and stays beside even after the wagon train moves on without them (he's had measles and lung fever). Not that she hasn't had help from scout Zack Peale who falls in love with her and once there keeps waiting for her to make up her stubborn mind - Goldie is determined to hang on to her own business venture (a chain of stores) and brother Gray. . . . This could have walked off some now abandoned Studio City lot - buffaloes, Indians, Chinese, clinkers and cliches. (Kirkus Reviews)show more
