I may have done it myself. I don't remember. Q. You don't remember? A. I work the typewriter; I have done it myself. Q. Did you typewrite that letter? A. I don't remember, it don't seem so. Q. It don't seem so? A. No; I can't tell yes or no. I typewrite, but I don't know whether I did this or not. Q. Fold that letter the way it was folded when you sent it. Mr. Lindsay. I want to note on the record that he has not said he sent this letter, and this was not the letter sent, but was a copy of the letter. I asked him whether this is a copy of the letter sent him, and he said it was a copy of the letter. I want to know whether the original has come back. The Witness. That is correct. This is a copy. Mr. Dupignac. I understood him to testify on his re-direct examination that he had written this letter and sent it to Luigi and Luigi sent it back to him. Mr. Lindsay. Sent him back the original? I did not know the original was back. Q. Well, that is so now; you understand that this is a copy? A. Yes. Q. Who copied it? A. I don't know (examines). I must have copied it, because it has the accents, which is a sign that I copied it. Q. That is your signature to it? A. Yes. Q. Whoever copied it did not copy your signature? A. N o, this is mine, I think I signed it. Q. Is that your habit when you keep a copy of a letter, to not write in the signature. but to put your own signature on it? A.
