This Petition in the first Ages of Christianity was not expounded to signisie a prayer for Chrisfs second coming 5 because the Gospel not being preached to all the world, they prayed sbr the delay of the day osjudgment, that Chr1fi's Kingdom upon Earth might have its proper increment: but since then every Age, as it is more forward in time, so it is more earnest in defire to accomplish the intermediall Prophecies, that the Kingdom of God the Father might come in glories infinite. And, indeed, the King-' dom of Grace bein in order to the Kingxdom of Glory, this, as it is principally to be desired, sb may posfibly be intended chie y. Which alfiz is the more probable, because the addrefi of this Prayer being to God the Father, it is proper to observe, that the Kingdom os Grace, or of the Gospel, is called the Kingdom of the V Son, and that of 'P coror. i. tzk Glory in the style of the Scripture is the Kingdom of the Father. S. German, Pacriareh 9-X. of caafmm-nopze, expounds it with some little difference, but not illz Tb, K, -, ga0, z the 3, i;,4 ' come, t at 's, Let thy Holy Spirit come into us: for the Kingdom of Heaven it within va', M'"l" '5' 'Feath the Holy Scripture.
