Excerpt from Annual Reports of the Several Departments of the City of Allegheny, With Acts of Assembly and Ordinances, for the Year Ending December 31, 1870
During the past year, the new city charter and An act in relation to streets were approved by the general assembly, and went into force June lst, since which time the duties of this office have been greatly enlarged, so that the receipts from all sources, as well as the expenditures, will now be accurately shown. In this respect this report will be different from any preceding one from this office, being much more complete and entering more largely into the details. From the experience of the past seven months I am convinced that the change is a good one, and will substantially benefit the city.
