Annual Reports, 1886, Vol. 2 (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from Annual Reports, 1886, Vol. 2 The work of making certified copies of the rolls of the war regiments has been pushed as fast as practicable dur ing the year and considerable progress has been made. The compilation of a new register of New Hampshiresoldiers of the last war, authorized by the legislature last summer, has been commenced and carried along as fast as possible under the circumstances, but there are so many errors to be corrected and discrepancies in records to be satisfactorily accounted for, that it cannot be hur ried. The magnitude of the undertaking can only be realized and appreciated by those directly engaged there in. I have secured as an assistant Leonard A. Morrison, A. M., of Windham, whose experience as an historian is very valuable in this peculiar work, and whose sound judgment and timely suggestions have been of great assistance. The following reports and papers, which accompany this, are respectfully presented for your information and consideration.
