Excerpt from Annual Report of the Town Officers of the Town of Standish: Beginning February 16, 1885, and Ending February 15th, 1886 At the last annual meeting, held March 2d, 1885, John H. Rich, collector for the years 1881 - 82, called the attention of the town to the fact that, although he had made a settlement of his bills as collector with a former board of municipal offi cers, for and in behalf of the town, evidently a serious mis take had been made in such settlement, which he asked to have corrected; he also claimed that in justice, he was entitled to an abatement of certain uncollected and uncollectable taxes still on his tax bills. After a full consideration of the matter the town voted to refer the same to the selectmen for settle ment.
