Correction oC Erroneous Assessments of Taxes--Section 897 amended by Chapter 592, in effect May 10, 1916, The Comptroller shall correct erroneous assessments of taxes due to clerical errors or to errors in descriptions of real estate in the annual record of valuation, and if the taxes shall have been paid shall refund differences between erroneous and correct assessments. Payment in Instalments of Assessments--Section 1019A amended by Chapter 598, in effect May 10, 1915. If assessment exceeds 3 per cent of the valuation of the land exclusive of improvements the collector of assessments shall divide the assessment into ten equal annual instalments upon application of the owner. Adjustment of Unpaid Taxes and Assessments--Section 1043A, added.by Chapter 314, in effect April 14, 1915. The Comptroller, when unpaid taxes and assessments with interest and penalties levied on realty subject to easement equal or exceed the sum for which it would sell, shall settle and adjust unpaid taxes and assessments, and if it would sell for only a nominal sum shall cancel taxes and assessment. Acquiring: Title to Realty for Public Use--By Chapter 696, in effect May 10, 1915, Chapter 21, Sections 1435 to 1448 of charter, are repealed and Chapter 21 is added. Ma'kes radical changes in the charter relative to acquiring title for public purposes. PENAL CODE. Publishing Untrue and Misleading Statements--Section 421 repealed and section added by Chapter 569, in effect September 1, 1915.
