Review quote

This is wonderful! In books by Jane Austen or the Brontes you only read fiction, but this is what Anne Lister really wrote down when she was alone in her room. Did she put it all in code to stop the servants seeing it? The little details about her dresses and money bring it all to life. It must have been a crucial year in her life with the deaths of her relatives, banks closing and elections.
