Our customer reviews

In House of Shadows, Will Hadcroft has created an all round great adventure which also gives us a great insight into character traits of ourselves and those we will recognise in others. As a story it is faster paced than Anne Droyd and Century Lodge as we already have an understanding of the characters. Having said that, it could easily be read as a stand alone novel. House of Shadows contains all the elements of a great children's novel, adventure, friendship, baddies, enough fear to make you edgy but not keep you up all night, laugh out loud moments and of course a great ending. A super read for children and adult, a great story to read aloud too. Whitby in the winter, creates a wonderful, atmospheric backdrop to a holiday for the children, creaking floor boards, mysterious figures seen running around the streets, great scenes that remind us family moments on seaside holidays. All accompanied by Anne's great take on life. Yet again Hadcroft provides us with a great adventure story that also takes us beneath the surface of the human condition. Anne Droyd helps us see the world from a different perspective and at times you wonder if she is the one who has got it right! We could all do with looking at the world from Anne's perspective from time to more
