Ham-own has not forfeited his right to fill the position for which he had been selected by the Prmident of the United States, he should be reinstated immediately. If, on the Other hand, his honesty or competency is questioned, it is due to the President, the Senate, and the People, that this should be made known by the results ofa formal procedure, and not born an investigation conducted by a scent, er parts, and an anonymous commission. Let the accused have the same hearing as his accusera. Lettheeaamio nation be as severe and searching as you pleue, aothat it is but fair and open.
