About Andre Norton

Often called "The Grand Dame of Science Fiction and Fantasy," Andre Alice Norton (nee Alice Mary Norton) also wrote under the pen names of Andrew North and Allen Weston. Practically minded, she knew science fiction books by men sold better to the male fan base. Nonetheless, Norton was the first woman to become a Gandalf Grand Master of Fantasy, the first woman to become a Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America Grand Master, and the first woman to be inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame. In 1998 she won the World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievement.show more
