Albert George "Albie" Thomas (born 8 February 1935 in Hurstville, New South Wales, Australia) is a former champion Australian middle-distance runner. He competed at three Olympic Games (1956, 1960, 1964), two British Empire Games (1958, 1962) and captured three individual world records during 1958 and 1959. Middle distance running events are track races longer than sprints, up to 3000 metres. . The standard middle distances are the 800 metres, 1500 metres and mile run, although the 3000 metres may also be classified as a middle distance event.
