Excerpt: ...The average amount annually exported is 27,450,000 bushels; the principal ports of shipment are San Francisco, Portland, and the two Puget Sound ports, Tacoma and Seattle. The Puget Sound ports have been rapidly coming to the front as shippers of grain and flour, but more especially the latter, and in 1900 they shipped as much flour as San Francisco. Reducing the barrels of flour to their equivalent in wheat, it appears that foreign markets are annually supplied with about 36,000,000 bushels of wheat from these Pacific States." Sydney wholesale market quotations at this date are as follow: Wheat--Country parcels have changed hands at 3s. 10d. to 3s. l0 d.; Sydney quotations, 4s. Old. to 4s. l d. per bushel. Flour--(fity roller flour is quoted 9 5s.; other grades, 8 10s. to 9; Manitoba, to 12 per ton. Oats-Prime Tasmanian feed oats, 3s. 5d.; prime local, 3s. 2d., ' Algerian, 3s. 4d. per bushel. Bran and Pollard, to Is. 4d. per bushel. Barley--Prime Cape, 3s. 6d.; English, 4s. 3d. per bushel. Maize-4s 8d. per bushel. Onions--. 6 per ton. Potatoes-- 5 per ton. Lucerne---Hunter River, best quality, 6 5s. per ton. Oaten Hay-Prime, 5 15s. per ton. Chafl'-Best quality local, to 5 12s. 6d.; medium, 5 5s. per ton. Butter-Pasteurised, ls. 4 d.; finest creamery, ls. 4d.; factory, ls. 3 d. per lb. Cheese--Loca.l, best quality, 8d.; second quality, 7 d. per lb.
