Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Agelena labyrinthica is a species of spider belonging to the family Agelenidae. It is a widespread species in Europe. This spider has a body length of up to 18 mm. The abdomen is dark with a paler central band flanked by white chevron marks. A. labyrinthica produces a sheet web with a funnel shaped retreat at the back. This leads to a maze of tunnels (hence the specific name) where the female lays its eggs. The female stays with the young spiders after they hatch. If the female dies before they leave the labyrinth, the young spiders will eat her body (matriphagy).show more
