(5) Full load for the JL6, seven passengers and pilot At the recent Aeronautical Congress held at Atlantic City, the J. L. 6 with 185 H. P. motor flew from the Atlantic City Airport to Philadelphia and return, a distance of about 130 miles in the record time of 59 minutes and 34 seconds. It carried a total load of 6 persons along with 80 gallons of fuel. In the efficiency tests over the same course a J. L. 6 equipped with a Mercedes 160 horsepower motor carried 8 passengers. The distance was covered in I hour 28 minutes and the fuel consumption was 12 i gallons for the round trip. On a trip from Atlantic City to Central Park, Long Island, the J. L. 6 carried five passengers and 143 pounds of baggage, a total weight of 1082 lbs. to a height of 20,600 feet, establishing a world's altitude record for passengers carried and horsepower used. The machine which made this marvelous flight took off on a straight line for New York, climbed 20,600 feet and covered the entire distance in 80 minutes. Among the passengers carried on this trip were J. K. Robinson, President of the Gallaudet Aircraft Corporation, John M. Larsen, President, J. L. Aircraft Corporation, Augustus Post, Secretary Aero Club of America, and Lawrence B. Sperry, well known manufacturer and aircraft engineer. The J. L. Aircraft Corporation is considering now applications for territory, and really competent and financially sound firms or individuals have an opportunity to secure a franchise that in a remarkably short time will prove one of the biggest agency assets in the entire aeronautical business.
