I once heard a man say that missions or anything about missions was boring. All I can say in reply is... "You need to read this book." For three and a half years, Kairos Sea Ministries Incorporated, ministered to boaters and those who lived by the sea, to proclaim the Good News to those who had no interest in religion, God, and especially Jesus. God revealed to me in 2 Peter 3:9b, ... "He (God) is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." I witnessed boaters being excluded from hearing the good news because they did not have doorbells, or sidewalks and they were surrounded by water in private marinas with locked gates. Someone had to go to them. So my wife and I said, "Send us Lord, send us!" He did. In our time of ministry we observed that the mere mention of Jesus' name would infuriate some. They became very defensive, obnoxious, and sometimes downright nasty. We also observed others that heard the name Jesus set people free, healed the sick, and rescued His children from dangerous and sometimes even embarrassing situations. For those three and a half years doing ministry in Florida marinas, Bahamas, and being the pastor of Marathon Harbor in the Keys, my wife and I put our lives in God's hands and saw the miraculous happen almost daily. There were miracles at sea, people getting healed, and many gave their hearts to Jesus which resulted in many baptisms in a little cove on the Atlantic Ocean side of Marathon on Vaca Key. There was also the drama of those who rebelled and caused all kinds of trouble, including the rejection of new converts. One particular young lady was severely beaten by her boyfriend, and her Bible torn into pieces for accepting Christ. God surely kept His eye on my wife, daughter and me, protected us, encouraged us, and let us see firsthand His power, mercy, grace, and tenderness. We hope the story of "The Adventures of Kairos Sea Ministries" encourages you and strengthens your faith!show more

About Rev David M Vance

David Vance was born in Dayton, Ohio, May 1st, 1952, but was raised in a suburb called Englewood, Ohio. He graduated from Northmont High school and after graduation was accepted at Morehead State University, in Morehead' Kentucky. David majored in Radio-TV, Telecommunications, and minored in Music. That is where he most likely gained some writing skills. In the last year at the university he had an air shift at the college radio station, WMKY. After he graduated, David was hired at an AM Christian radio station, and later was hired at WHMB, a Christian TV station in Noblesville, Indiana. Because of the low pay and not really enjoying this industry, he dropped out of broadcasting and tried a myriad of different professions such as an insurance agent, laying carpet, a bug man spraying houses and businesses, and a set up carpenter for Endeavour Yachts. After being there for many years, the company had some financial problems and laid off many of their employees which included David. That lead him to driving a truck and delivering various items like uniforms, restaurant linens, and paper products for printers. These years were better financially and bought his first sailboat named Genesis. Not to long after that he became a member of Christian Boaters Association, and saw a need for the Word of God to be presented to the boating community. During that process David and his wife created Kairos Sea Ministries, Incorporated. After incorporating, David started studying and writing theological papers to the headquarters of the denomination he was attending, and became a licensed minister in the summer of 1991. Melanie and David both quite their jobs, and moved to Marathon, Florida to help and eventually take over the Boot Key Harbor Ministry which was previously headed up by Mike Kole. On October 31st, 2007, David completed further academic theological courses and became an ordained more
