MULFORD. The following communication was received from the Permanent Clerk. Its recommendations were approved, and the request made was granted: The Permanent Clerk begs leave to report to the General Synod, that he has been engaged for more than five years past in an efiort to secure complete sets of the printed Minutes of the General Synod, for preservation in the Archives. It has been a work of considerable difiiculty. He has succeeded in making up two sets, has a third set with the exception of copies of three sessions (June 1816 and 1817, and September 1825), and a fourth one with the exception of copies five sessions (June 1815, 1816, 1817, September 1825, and June 1826.) He respectfully requests the Synod to authorize him to have the two completed sets bound, and should he succeed in making up one or both the other sets, to have them bound also. In view of the fact that heretofore the Synod has had only two complete sets, and one of these is exposed to destruction by fire, and also to damage or destruction in transporting them to and from the meetings of the General Synod, the importance of having these extra sets in possession of the Synod is apparent. Roswell Randall Hoes, Chaplain in the United States Navy, was invited to sit as a Corresponding Member, and addressed the Synod in relation to certain letters and papers in the Archives of the Classis of Amsterdam.
