Excerpt: ...On the 6th of March, it appears the husband, John Walsh, absconded, and on the 11th of March he again applied for admission, and was admitted with the rest of his children; his sister, who had previously been admitted as his wife, having on this last occasion come into the house as a widow. In the mean time his wife went about the country begging, and when this failed her, sought to be admitted into the house with her remaining child, whom she states to have been in fever when her husband was first admitted. All this we learned from the intelligent master of the house, who traced the admission and dismissal of this unfor-tunate family, and who under all the circumstances felt himself bound to give the mother and her child lodgings and maintenance for the night; but this is only one of the many instances in which the grossest frauds are practised on the Union.
