Excerpt: ...buildings.--No person in any maritime town, shall improve any buildiu% for the business of a sailmaker, riggr-r, or keeper of a ivery stal_le, except in places approved of by the selectmen, under a penalty of $10, for the. two former and $50, for the _latter. The fines incurred as aforesaid shall be, two thirds tothe use of the poor of the town and the remainder to the prosecutor. I Penalty for setting Fire to Woods.-If any person shall wittingly and willingly set fir_e to woods or lands of another, or such as he may own in common, without leave ofthe owner or' other person authorized to grant it, he shall forfeit $10, one half to the use of the commonwealth and the other to the prosecutor; and shall also be liable to an action for the dam; ages done thereby to the owner. And parents and masters shall be answerable for the penalty aforesaid, when the fire is set by minors, unless such minor was induced to do it by some' other person, in which case such person shall be answerable' instead of the parent or master. THE RECORDS OF NOTARIES PUBLIC. By an act of February 26, 1799, ll, 848, it is provided; that on the death, resignation, or removal from oflice of any notary publick, his records shall be deposited in the office of the clerk of the court of common pleas in the county where he resided, and for the neglect thereof for more than three months, he, or in case of his death, his executor or administrator, shall forfeit from $50 to $500. And the.clerks are dis rected to keep the same, and give copies, when required, and receive therefor the usual fees.
