The Abbott's moray eel, Gymnothorax eurostus, is a moray eel of the family Muraenidae, found in the Indo-Pacific antitropical in distribution. Reported from the Seychelles. Found in the eastern Pacific from Costa Rica and Easter Island, at depths down to 40 m. Its length is up to 60 cm.The Abbott's moray eel is a shallow-water, inshore reef species, though not often seen.Moray eels are cosmopolitan eels of the family Muraenidae. The approximately 200 species in 15 genera are almost exclusively marine, but several species are regularly seen in brackish water and a few, for example the freshwater moray can sometimes be found in freshwater.
