This book really opened my eyes to what a healthy diet should consist of. I was eating too much meat and animal products in general. The author emphasizes a few times that this is a guide and you don't have to follow it verbatim. So I have tailored it to suit my lifestyle. I am very active but I still was not burning all the kj's I was eating on this diet due to all the energy in the fruit. So I cut down on the fruit and ate more salads (less than 10% fat always). I also continue to eat meat once a week and gluten once a week so I don't become intolerant to them. The things I don't miss in my diet at all are dairy products. I now truly believe they are unnecessary and I now know they were responsible for making me bloated and gassy which i never am anymore. According to my dietician I am very healthy following this diet and I suppose we will see the long term effects over the years. I can't imagine however that with all the vitamins and minerals (including fats and proteins) in fruits and veges that there will be any negative side effects! If you are interested in improving your health dramatically and are able to give up your comfort foods slowly but surely, this book is a good start.show more

I was not a vegan, let alone a raw vegan, before reading this book. Have no worries; there is absolutely ZERO preaching about animal treatments and such. Instead, we get a good and hardcore focus on the food industry, and what changes we can apply for ourselves to be healthier. Following the guidelines of the book, within 2 weeks I ceased being pre-diabetic. My seborrhea, from which I've been suffering for years, vanished almost entirely. My weight dropped nearly 50 pounds in the first 4 weeks. I'll admit that it's a little hard to stick to when going out with friends; yet I see this more as a cultural thing rather than a health/diet thing. The bottom line is, read this book, follow what it advices. It will change your life, for the better.show more
