Excerpt from 45th Annual Report, 1920 In this Forty-fifth Annual Report of the Hospital for Sick Children is a record of service which surpasses that of any previous year. The Trustees hope that its claims will make a stronger appeal to the child-loving people of the Province than ever before to carry on the good work, and urgent plea is made to the liberality of its friends. Prices of almost all supplies reached their peak during the period cov ered by this report. It is evidence of economical management that the increase in the daily cost of caring for each cot patient was only seven cents more than in 1919. But, before the downward trend in prices began, the overdraft was on maintenance account. In addition. 'the Hospi ta'l had to purchase outside accommodation for a part of the personnel, so great has become the pressure upon the available space in the Mai-n Build ing. Because of improvements and renovations, the capital outlay exceeded Thus the Hospital's burden of debt is far greater than ever in the past. It is hoped that the record of service will encourage the friends of the Mother Charity to further evidence of their sympathy.
