About Jim Fetter

Born in 1955 in Munich Germany, my father being stationed there in the U.S. Army. I grew up all over the world, a wonderful experience. Spent time in the U.S. Air Force, then went to college and majored in Art. Although I majored in art in college, I didn't learn what I wanted to because my instructors only taught me to paint like they did, not my own style. The one class in college I liked the most was sculpture believe it or not. Using all kinds of metals and woods and clay to create my own style of sculptures. I put off taking the required watercolor classes until I had nothing else to take, because when I use to think of watercolors I thought of kids finger-painting, Ha-ha. After my first week in watercolors I got rid of all my other oil and acrylic paints because I knew watercolors was my medium. It was like painting with stained glass, like a drug to me that got me high as a kite! Been doing it for over 30 years now. Everything I do is by hand; I first sketch out with pencil, then ink in, and then paint in the colors with watercolor paint and a brush in hand. I don't do computer illustration, I do REAL art that you can frame and hang on your wall, that's made by a human hand, not a bunch of "1's," and "0's," lol! Over the years I have become experienced in all aspects of watercolor painting and illustration. Realistic portrait painting. Magazine illustration. Book illustration. Logo Design, label design and just about anything else you can throw at me, lol! To sum it up, There is nothing I can't do illustration wise...........well I have not tried to paint a scene on a grain of rice yet, but then who could see it, the chicken egg I painted the last supper on was almost too small to see, Ha-ha!show more
